El noveno album de la banda liderada por Tobias Sammet estara a la venta el 26 de agosto en Europa, y el 13 de Septiembre en América.
Se prevé que sea uno de los mas experimentales discos de la banda alemana, donde se juntan distintos e inusuales elementos en las composiciones. Sonidos influidos por una atomsfera que evoca a bandas de los setenta como Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, grandiosos riffs muy a lo Metallica o sonidos progresivos que recuerdan a Queenryche. Destaca “Nobodys hero” la que se intuye como una cancion tributo a Ronnie James Dio, fallecido el año pasado.
AGE OF THE JOKER sera unos de los albums estantandertes del comienzo de una nueva era musical de gran cultura.

JEFF HANNEMAN ABANDONA SLAYER

El guitarrista de Slayer y miembro co-fundador Jeff Hanneman ha anunció que ha tomado la decisión de abandonar el banda, a raíz de sus problemas de salud recientes. Un mensaje de Hanneman dice lo siguiente:

Cinco horas y media de metal británico

Cinco horas y media de metal británico se forjaron el domingo en la factoría BEC al unísono entre tres cuadrillas profesionales que contaron con el auxilio de 8.000 espectadores, los cuales a centenares y con total impunidad aportaron el calor de sus cigarrillos (otra vez volvimos a casa apestando a humo, como en los viejos tiempos). Bueno, tuvimos dos medias horas de descanso para alimentarnos con perritos calientes e hidratarnos con katxis cerveceros durante los cambios de los tres combos, que coincidieron en varios comportamientos ante el respetable: en pedir a la gente que gritara (lo consiguieron con más entusiasmo Saxon), en atronar con solos de batería (el mejor el de Saxon, el peor el de Motörhead), en parlamentar con el público (cercano el cantante de los Judas Priest Rob Halford, distantes y desafiantes Motörhead, entusiasta Biff, el vocalista de Saxon), en alargar algunos punteos (francamente inane uno de Phil Campbell, el hacha de Motörhead, en plan guitar hero) y en colgar telones de fondo (a Saxon casi no le cabía el suyo, los Judas colocaron varios).
El primer turno lo protagonizaron los cinco de Saxon, que en una hora justa y treces temas echaron muchas chispas. Biff, con melena cana y barriga disimulada, se mostró encantado con tal «fantastic show», silbó durante la canción 'Motorcycle Man', nos dedicó el tema 'Denim And Leather' (tela vaquera y cuero), lanzó botellines de agua al público para que se refrescara en 'Princess Of The Night' y logró que la peña coreara puño en alto el sleaze 'Wheels Of Steel'. Dijeron que volverán en noviembre.

Una hora y cinco minutos, saludos aparte, se tiraron los chuletas segundos del lote, los que generaron menos entusiasmo entre el gentío heavy metal. No en vano, éstos se presentaron así: «Somos Motörhead y tocamos rock and roll». Durante 14 piezas, el bajista de voz cazallosa y pinta de oficial confederado salido del infierno Lemmy Killmister cantó como si le fuese la vida en ello, le rebosó la sobria petulancia, se lució en sus clásicos temas viejos ('Stay Clean', 'Killed By Death', 'Ace Of Spades', el estupendo 'Overkill' para cerrar), en rocanroles explícitos ('Going To Brazil') y en piezas de su último CD ('I Know How To Die').
Pero las 8.000 personas se habían rascado el bolsillo para presenciar la gira de despedida de los Judas Priest, nominada 'Epitafio'. En dos horas y cuarto los de Birmingham enlazaron 21 temas con sonido estupendo y preciso y sobre el escenario más preparado: haces de láseres, llamaradas como las de Rammstein, y una pantalla pequeña al fondo. Su vocalista Rob Halfor ejerció de sumo sacerdote paseándose por el tablado, dirigiéndose a los parroquianos, cantando encorvado sobre su micrófono, cambiándose a menudo de ropajes de cuero.

Rob abrió con caña ('Rapid Fire'), se autocoronó épico ('Metal Gods'), agarró un bastón de mando ('Judas Rising'), afirmó que su mejor LP fue 'Rock-A-Rolla' (lo dató en 1973 y cantó 'Never Satisfied'), versionó a Joan Baez ('Diamonds & Rust'), sugirió el boogie ('Night Prowler'), se sofisticó ('Turbo Lover'), defendió la balada heavy metal ('Beyond The Realms Of Death'), versionó a Fleetwood Mac ('Green Manalishi'), dejó que la gente cantara su éxito 'Breaking The Law' (muchos la tararearon sin más), quizá su cúspide fue 'Painkiller' (casi speed metal), en el primer bis salió con la moto ('Hell Bent For Leather') y se despidió con el aire de estadio a lo Kiss ('Living After Midnight'), tema en que se envolvió en una ikurriña que besó. Al evacuar el BEC, los vendedores piratas ya colocaban camisetas a 10 euros, cuando dentro las oficiales costaban 30 lereles.
